New and old colleague to be

It has been raining in the afternoon lately. Nice cool weather to take a nap but I am in office bored, with nothing much to do. Market is pretty quiet now due to the World Cup season. This can get too boring sometimes!

Just a recap of the last few weeks in office..

A new colleague just joined my team but is also leaving two weeks later. Amazingly, she has decided to leave us after barely a month. She tendered because she doesn’t like her new job and prefers her old work place. She is rejoining her old workplace again, doing a different role though. Before she actually tendered, she actually complained to HR about my team. She said she felt lost and confused and it doesn’t help that we are unhelpful towards her. WE UNHELPFUL? BOX HER! Dunno how we can help her further. Hence my head of operations was alerted by the HR and my team leader was questioned by the head on our treatment towards the new colleague. We were all anguished and pissed off by her action. I think she purposely complained to HR.. because apparently we heard from HR that she called them to ask who to give her resignation letter to.. my team leader or the head of operations, since my direct boss has left. So HR interfered after she asked such a stupid question. The day before she called HR.. she did tell one of my teammate that she is quitting and going to give her resignation letter to my head of operations! She did know who to give the resignation letter to.. so why ask HR about it? It only means she wants to talk bad to HR about us. In the end, she complained but did not tender yet. Anyway she just confirmed her resignation few days ago. She has created such a messed up relationship with the team.. definitely she can’t survive here already.

Back to the accusation part.. my team did our best to help her to adjust to the new work and environment, yet the ungrateful soul accused us of being unhelpful! Two/three of my teammates took time and effort to hand over to her , we didn’t pressurize her or just pushed everything to her even though she is supposedly to be experienced. I even have to cover for one of the teammates for a few days because the teammate needs to spend additional time to teach her the things all over again. We realized that she still seem quite confused with the procedure, so we did such an arrangement specially for her. Moreover each time they asked her if she’s comfortable or ready to learn other things, she even assured them and said ‘ok! Everything’s gd! “tsk tsk if you are really lost and not ready for more things, then make it known to others. No one would laugh or despise you for that. After she complained about us being unhelpful, my team decided to ‘reflect on our behaviour’ on how exactly are we unhelpful.. it then dawned to us that her interpretation of unhelpfulness may be different. She mentioned before about having three managers at her old workplace and they would be the one to sort and read through the swifts, helping the staff with their daily work. So the new colleague expected us to help her share her daily workload! It’s such a joke. My team is short-handed, that’s why they hire another new headcount. How would we have the time to go help her? If she needs us to help her with her daily work, we all might as well just do them ourselves. Let’s just split the money that my bank is paying her for and we will gladly do her share of work!

The main point is if you decide to quit because you think the work is too over-whelming and you cannot cope.. then admit it and quit. Don’t try to point fingers at other people.. it’s such a LOSER’s behavior!
